Value and Form

Today in class we finished up our first still life charcoal drawings using four different techniques (Yes we added one more today):

  1. Contour
  2. Cross contour
  3. Traditional charcoal drawing
    1. Additive method
    2. Subtractive method
  4. We then found an interesting crop of our three forms to create a unique drawing capturing a section of the still life
We then started an oil pastel of two different still life set ups. Using the oil pastels we went for a more heavier application of the medium so that we could blend the colors and create value of the forms.

Students could select a view that interested them and we worked hard for the full 90 minutes composing unique drawings from the still life models.
