Calvaras! Day 2 & "What's a flappy?"

In 7th grade we had a big push in getting Papier-mâché on the skulls, and creating the jaw bone.

We also had some students painting today which was pretty incredible!

Students were instructed on how to keep their skulls smooth when applying the Papier-mâché. We decided on a new technical term, "flappies."

Flappies - occur when Papier-mâché is applied to the armature and the glue does not fully adhere creating a slight fold or loop in the Papier-mâché.

Students found that putting Papier-mâché strips perpendicular to the flappy helped to tame these anomalies!
