Welcome Back!

Welcome back fellow artists! This year we have some exciting projects in store for you! Our first lesson for both 7th and 8th grades is creating a program with Scratch.

Scratch is a program developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

According to the Scratch (2013) website, "Scratch is designed especially for ages 8 to 16, but is used by people of all ages." Scratch is also a free download with a large community of users. To download your own copy or to use the web version click HERE.

The 7th grade art class will be creating a maze game that will incorporate the art history of mazes or labyrinths. Their game will provide multiple levels of difficulty and will incorporate mazes created by using the painting capabilities of Scratch, and students will import their own mazes that they create by hand.

Below is a sample of a maze project that I created that models the 8th grade assignment. Simply click the green flag to start.

The 8th graders will be creating an escape the room game. They will be creating their own backgrounds and sprites within their game. Students will incorporate art history and some mathematics in their projects.
